AUSTIN, Texas--()--Proving that being made in America does indeed have its rewards, electrician Tim Frost won the 2012 Ford F-150 truck grand prize for the 3M 2012 Made in America Tape sweepstakes promotion.
“This promotion enabled us to reward an electrician who is working in the heart of America to keep domestic industry moving using a product invented, developed and manufactured in America.”
3M representatives presented the truck to Frost on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in his hometown of Fond du Lac, Wis. The Brenner Tank electrician has been a 3M fan since he was a boy.
“3M Scotch tape was a staple at my house growing up,” said Frost. “3M electrical tape is like my duct tape on the job. I use it for just about everything from wrapping wires to protecting splices. You can’t beat the quality and reliability of vinyl electrical tape from 3M. And the fact that it’s made in America just makes you feel good about the product and the company behind it.”
Scotch Super 33+ Vinyl Electrical tape was invented in the United States and continues to be made in America. This supply-chain model not only keeps inventories close to the U.S. premium tapes and supplies market; it also protects the key proprietary manufacturing processes that give Super 33+ electrical tape its ideal characteristics.
“What a great opportunity to celebrate American ingenuity and innovation,” said Jeffrey Boehm, 3M Electrical Markets Division national sales manager. “This promotion enabled us to reward an electrician who is working in the heart of America to keep domestic industry moving using a product invented, developed and manufactured in America.”
With its excellent adhesive, elasticity and temperature-resistant properties, including a minus 18 degree to a 105 degree C functional range, and 250 percent elongation, it is no surprise that Scotch Super 33+ Vinyl Electrical Tape from 3M is overwhelmingly preferred by professional electricians. In addition to standard applications like insulating and wire bundling, electrical tape is the “go-to” tool for just about every job on the electrical work site.
In fact, during hurricane season, electrical tape is one of the top three items electricians reach for, after water and bug repellant. Electrical tape is used to repair electrical infrastructure after storms, but workers in the field depend on it for all sorts of uses, from bundling excess cable to wrapping tool handles.
Frost was randomly selected from more than 30,000 entries who bought Scotch Professional Grade Vinyl Electrical Tape to win the Ford F-150 truck. Additionally, 3M gave away 1,000 camouflage duffel bags, 1,000 3M Portable Labelers, and 10 $500 gift cards to Best Buy.
