TORONTO--()--Medworxx Inc. (“Medworxx”) (TSXV: MWX), a leader in clinical patient flow, compliance and education solutions, is pleased to announce client Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust’s success and recognition for engaging a case management system with measurable results in improving patient flow and patient care.
“Our investment in the Medworxx Utilization Management solution, is the first of its kind in the UK and Europe. It has helped us to improve the patients’ journey and experience of care throughout the hospital, enabling us to manage their care more efficiently and avoid delays in their discharge”
The Trust has been recently nominated as one of the top finalists for the national EHI Awards’ category of ‘Outstanding work in IT-enabled change in healthcare’ for the project titled, ‘First UK IT-enabled case management system’.
The solution optimizes patient flow by alerting case managers of necessary factors for the planning of safe and effective patient discharges. The Trust reported a 30% reduction in delayed transfers of care in three months of the solution’s implementation.
“This new system, together with the introduction of new hospital case managers into departments, is helping to ensure that patients don’t have to stay in hospital any longer than they need to and are appropriately supported when they are discharged,” says Trish Armstrong-Child, Director of Operations at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Armstrong-Child will be speaking within the EHI Awards stage on the first day of the two-day exhibition and conference, EHI LIVE 2012 that will take place at the NEC, Birmingham 6th to 7th of November, 2012.
“Our investment in the Medworxx Utilization Management solution, is the first of its kind in the UK and Europe. It has helped us to improve the patients’ journey and experience of care throughout the hospital, enabling us to manage their care more efficiently and avoid delays in their discharge,” she adds. “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award in recognition of our investment into managing patient care more efficiently.”
The Trust was also recently ranked first for quality improvement in the Mersey Quality Awards by commissioners of local health services; NHS Merseyside. This award recognizes the achievements the Trust has made in improving patient care and reducing length of stay since the introduction of the new case management system.
“This award was hugely significant in illustrating our ongoing commitment to service re-design, quality improvement, value for money and improved patient care that the Medworxx Utilization Management solution has helped us to achieve,” says Armstrong-Child.
