NEW YORK--()--Application Security, Inc. (AppSecInc) the leading provider of database security solutions for the enterprise, today announced that Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Josh Shaul will be a featured speaker in a panel discussion at the upcoming information security conference, Virus Bulletin 2012. The conference takes place from September 26-28 at the Fairmont Dallas Hotel in Dallas, TX.
“But there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. We never want to provide destructive hackers with ammunition.”
Shaul will take the stage on September 28 at 3:20pm, along with Adrian Stone of RIM and Matt Watchinski of Sourcefire in a panel titled, “The Value (And Danger) Of Offensive Security Research.” The panel will be chaired by Ryan Naraine of ZDNet. The group will be debating offensive security research, or the concept of thinking like a hacker, when developing a security strategy, and the risk of negating useful findings with the threat of providing malicious attackers with a roadmap.
“As attack methods become more creative and destructive, it is important for the security community to access the landscape through a hacker’s eyes,” says Shaul. “But there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. We never want to provide destructive hackers with ammunition.”
The goal of Virus Bulletin is to present factual information, demonstrate defensive procedures and discuss future developments and countermeasures, while providing an opportunity for experts in the anti-malware/anti-spam arena to share their research interests, discuss methods and technologies and set new standards.
