BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--Balch & Bingham LLP today announced it will merge with Stoneburner Berry Glocker Purcell & Greenhut, P.A. (Stoneburner), marking the firm’s expansion into Florida and the growth of its Business and Financial Services Practices. Stoneburner is based in Jacksonville, Fla., and includes six attorneys who are recognized for their banking, transactional and wealth management practices.
“All of our clients will benefit from the range of expertise strengthened by the joining of the firms”
“All of our clients will benefit from the range of expertise strengthened by the joining of the firms,” said Balch & Bingham Managing Partner Alan T. Rogers. “Stoneburner’s talented attorneys enhance our national financial services practice to create greater value for every client.”
The merger, approved by the partnerships of both firms, is effective October 16, 2012, and will expand Balch & Bingham’s nationally-ranked financial services, business and transactional practices by adding six attorneys with experience representing and counseling several of the nation’s top banks and corporations. The merger joins two firms with complementary cultures, established reputations for achieving excellence and efficient, high-quality client service.
“Stoneburner’s top lawyers add to our already-deep team, allowing us to continue serving our firm’s clients on matters involving banking, real estate, credit and a growing variety of financial issues,” said Richard L. Pearson, chair of Balch & Bingham’s Financial Industries Section. “This merger’s impact extends beyond our Financial Services group; it positively affects the entire firm as we will provide greater value and more comprehensive services to all of our clients.”
The merged firm will be named Balch & Bingham LLP, and will remain headquartered in Birmingham, Ala. When the merger is complete, Balch & Bingham will, for the first time, have an office in Florida.
“We grow with our clients. Many already have operations in Florida, or anticipate growing into that state. This merger allows us to anticipate and remain ahead of our clients’ evolving needs,” said Rogers.
Balch & Bingham currently has offices in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Washington D.C. The firm is recognized nationally for its bench strength and experience serving highly-regulated industries including financial services, energy and healthcare.
“The merger with Balch offers our team the opportunity to join a firm with a similar culture and a shared commitment to clients’ successes, while expanding our geographic footprint and allowing us to grow our services with our clients,” said Gresham R. Stoneburner, partner of Stoneburner Berry Glocker Purcell & Greenhut. “Balch embraces a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach for each client, benefiting the businesses and the industries that we together will serve.”
