DENVER--()--Schrader®, a pioneer and leading global manufacturer of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), today announced the North American launch of its Off-The-Road (OTR) TPMS portfolio which includes specially designed tire-pressure monitoring (TPMS) sensors to alert drivers and provide enhanced data capabilities for fleet operators. The OTR TPMS sensor is mounted on a specifically designed patch applied to the inside of tires for large off-road vehicles, like mining equipment, port vehicles, construction and earthmoving machinery. The OTR sensor measures, monitors and displays critical tire performance data, including tire pressure and temperature information, to drivers and fleet managers while vehicles are in service.
“The Schrader OTR TPMS suite offers our customers real-time information about the state of their fleet vehicle tires, including pressure, temperature, overall wear and much more, and records this data for subsequent analysis”
“The Schrader OTR TPMS suite offers our customers real-time information about the state of their fleet vehicle tires, including pressure, temperature, overall wear and much more, and records this data for subsequent analysis,” said Trevor Potter, Vice President, North American Aftermarket. “In turn, our customers experience increased equipment uptime, improved fuel efficiency, increased safety and reduced overall operational costs which allows them to optimize tire performance and extend tire life. This is critically important in OTR, mining, and infrastructure project environments where tires and fuel costs are typically the highest operational costs to the business itself.”
The OTR TPMS system operates within three distinctive areas on these large vehicles: the controller and visual display are mounted inside the cabin for the operator, while antennas are affixed to the vehicle outside the cabin. Lastly, special Schrader sensors are located within all of the vehicle’s tires and transmit tire temperature and pressure to both the driver and remotely to the fleet manager or control center.
By alerting vehicle operators to potentially dangerous changes in temperature or pressure, OTR TPMS provides important insight into the overall state of these mission-critical and expensive tires. This real-time data also provides fleet managers with the additional analysis they need for tracking fleet assets and overall operational performance on-site.
Schrader’s OTR TPMS technology is being showcased at MINExpo International® 2012 in Las Vegas this week, in Schrader’s booth (#25127). To learn more about Schrader, please visit www.SchraderInternational.com.
