LOS ANGELES--()--KMEX Univision 34, celebrates its 50th anniversary with a special event and gala this evening at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. The celebration will highlight upcoming local fall programming as well as feature today’s hottest talent, celebrities and special musical performances.

This year marks half a century that KMEX Univision 34, the No. 1 station in the country, regardless of language, has served the Los Angeles community providing award-winning news coverage and community engagement to local Latinos.

With a focus on its 50-year history and accomplishments and in addition to highlighting upcoming local fall programming, the event will profile enhancements to KMEX’s local news properties, as well as sister station, KFTR’s morning show, “Lanzate” (Get up, Get moving). Also announced will be details regarding KMEX’s financial fair taking place in March 2013. This financial fair will offer the Los Angeles community the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars regarding managing personal finances, banking centers and have the chance to meet local Univision talent.
Mier y Terán along with Univision Network’s Maria Elena Salinas and Bárbara Bermudo as well as local station talent will host and present at the celebration. Other confirmed celebrities include Jomari Goyso, Maria Conchita Alonso, Carmen Jara, Esai Morales, Victoria Ortiz, Ivonne Armant, Jane Santos, Enrique Castillo and Sergio Arau.
The celebration will include a gala featuring an exhibition by one of Univision’s newest networks, tlnovelas, a sports bar staffed by KMEX’s ADElitas, a Univision Radio DJ booth featuring 107.5 KLVE’s DJ Cristian and a “Lanzate Lounge” where special guest interviews will take place.
KMEX Univision 34 was founded on September 29, 1962 and has been an integral force in shaping the television industry not only in Southern California but across the nation. July 2012 marked the 74th consecutive major sweep, since May of 1994 that “Noticias Univision 34” at 6 p.m. has been the No. 1 weekday 6 p.m. local news among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.
