ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Smiths Medical, a leading global manufacturer of medication delivery and therapeutic products, announced today that the United States Navy awarded the company with a contract to equip the USNS Comfort medical treatment facility hospital ship with the company's Level 1® HOTLINE® Fluid Warmer.
“Serving the men and women of the USNS Comfort, and those who find care aboard her, with the highest quality medical equipment is an honor and a privilege for Smiths Medical”
HOTLINE® Fluid Warmers are used during surgical procedures to warm cold intravenous fluids, including blood, helping to prevent patient hypothermia, a condition shown to increase the risk of post-operative complications and infection. HOTLINE® Fluid Warmers combat hypothermia by delivering intravenous fluids or blood at or above body temperature, helping to keep patients warm and comfortable while helping reduce recovery time, length of stay, and costs to the hospital.
"Serving the men and women of the USNS Comfort, and those who find care aboard her, with the highest quality medical equipment is an honor and a privilege for Smiths Medical," said Srini Seshadri, President, Smiths Medical. "Our Level 1® patient and fluid warming devices have long been known for their outstanding dependability and performance, qualities important to all caregivers and patients, but particularly vital to those in remote locations far from home and customer support."
