LOS ANGELES--()--Hollywood-based TCD Studios announced today its completion and upcoming screening of the new short film, "Posey", starring Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner, Sally Kirkland (JFK, Bruce Almighty).
“Almost everyone today, knows someone or will know someone, facing Alzheimer’s”
Written and directed by long-time Casting Director, Billy DaMota, Posey also stars Hollywood veterans Ray Wise (Good Night, and Good Luck.), Jason Stuart (Kindergarten Cop) and Christopher Pennock (Dark Shadows). Erica Rhodes, who provided the inspiration for the film, stars as Posey's granddaughter, Linda.
The drama revolves around Posey (Kirkland), a grandmother suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease and her struggle to cope with the illness. She escapes from the assisted care facility she's been confined to and discovers an astounding new world that changes her life profoundly.
The film is supported by the Alzheimer's Association, with a portion of any profits from the film donated to their ongoing efforts to find a cure.
“Almost everyone today, knows someone or will know someone, facing Alzheimer’s,” Kirkland said. “This insidious disease is devastating not only for the patient, but also for the loved ones and caregivers. This film provides a beautiful glimpse inside the private struggle so many are bravely facing, or have faced. I am proud to be a part of this project and champion this cause with Billy, Erica and an incredible cast and crew.”
A screening and celebration of the film will be held Saturday, September 29. The film screens at Beyond the Stars Palace, 417 N. Brand Bl., Glendale, CA 91203. A red carpet reception begins at 7pm, screening at 8pm. The evening includes live music from the Gene Butler Band and Shelly O'Neill and the Big Way.
