“After a thorough evaluation of many radiology providers, we selected Radisphere because of its strong commitment to quality standards, its customer service-driven approach to referring physicians and its subspecialty expertise,” said Rhonda Sherrod, CEO of Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center. “The administration and medical staff were impressed with Radisphere’s proven delivery model, which meets our requirements of delivering excellent patient care and quality.”
Through a combination of local onsite radiologists and a dedicated team of subspecialty radiologists, Radisphere will collaborate with Shands Lake Shore’s Medical Staff to provide timely and accurate diagnoses for the highest levels of patient care. Radisphere employs veteran radiologists with expertise in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, body, women’s and pediatric imaging. They are all board certified by the American Board of Radiology and are located in the United States. They also are required to have academic and/or fellowship experience and must interpret an average of 10,000 to 15,000 cases annually.
To better collaborate and communicate with Radisphere’s radiologists, Shands Lake Shore physicians will use Radisphere’s iPhone® application to access critical diagnostic information at the point of patient care. The secure application not only facilitates the delivery of radiologic reports and critical findings, but it also enables instant and direct communication between physicians and radiologists when consultations are needed. Armed with up-to-date diagnostic information, physicians are better equipped to provide quality patient care based on timely and comprehensive radiologic results.
“In this era of healthcare reform, Shands Lake Shore realizes it must provide radiology services that will increase the level of accountability to satisfy medical staff requirements and effectively treat patients,” said Frank Seidelmann, D.O., Radisphere’s Chairman of Radiology and Chief Medical Officer. “Imaging is a significant clinical and cost component of most major diseases, from cancer and cardiovascular disease to obesity and stroke. A strong radiology partner at the start of the treatment process can help physicians make more informed diagnoses so that they can provide the highest quality of care to their patients as efficiently as possible.”
Shands Lake Shore and its Imaging Center employ a full range of technologically advanced imaging services to provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services, including:
- Biopsy, which is the surgical sampling of tissue and cells to test for disease
- Bone densitometry, which can determine bone strength and the risk of osteoporosis
- Breast imaging, which includes digital mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy techniques to detect cancer at the earliest stages
- CT Scan, which combines X-ray and computer technology to show detailed body images
- Fluoroscopy, which utilizes X-ray technology to provide real-time images within the body
- Interventional radiology, which uses minimally invasive, catheter-based techniques to diagnose and treat conditions of the veins and arteries
- MRI, which combines magnetic force, radio waves and computer technology to provide detailed images without exposing patients to radiation
- Nuclear Medicine, which involves specialized techniques that use tiny amounts of radioactive materials to examine organ structure and metabolic function
