Goodwin Procter Names Anthony McCusker Chair of Silicon Valley Office

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Goodwin Procter, a national Am Law 50 firm, announced today that Anthony McCusker has been named chair of its Silicon Valley office. He succeeds Kevin Dennis who will continue to focus his practice on serving clients in the private equity sector. Dennis had served as chair of the Silicon Valley office from its opening in 2007 to 2012.

McCusker joined Goodwin as a partner in 2010 from Gundersen Dettmer. As a co-chair of Goodwin’s Technology Companies practice, he focuses on the formation and financing of emerging growth companies. In the past year, he has led major venture capital tech deals, including financings for Airbnb, Dropbox, Etsy, Eventbrite, Tumblr, Twilio and Viddy, and IPOs, including representation of JP Morgan in Trulia’s offering and Goldman Sachs in Gigamon’s upcoming offering. McCusker has also been a key contributor to Goodwin Procter’s Founder’s Workbench, an award-winning online resource for start-ups, emerging companies and the entrepreneurial community.

In his new role, McCusker will oversee the growth of Goodwin’s Silicon Valley office, which opened in June 2007 and is now home to more than 50 attorneys. The office has made several significant hires in recent months, including growing its M&A specialty with the addition of Lawrence Chu, and bolstering its Labor & Employment Practice with the hire of Kristen Garcia Dumont.

McCusker will also continue to co-lead the firm’s Technology Companies practice, which interconnects business, emerging science, new technologies and the law. With more than 160 attorneys nationwide, Goodwin’s Technology Companies Practice is one of the largest in the United States and represents more than 800 technology-based companies, including a third of Fortune 100 companies.
