LOS ANGELES--()--After a three-month-long fundraiser and matching funds from CO-OP Financial Services, Water and Power Community Credit Union raised more than $9,300 to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The “Love Your Credit Union for Kids” Fundraiser caught the attention of members when they visited WPCCU branches this summer. A variety of small “cutie” bears decorated the branches, and when members made a $5 donation they got to take one home.

Members who received a cutie bear could give it to a friend or a family member as a gift. “Members loved the idea of getting a bear with an inscribed message when they donated $5. The Miracle Match from CO-OP Financial Services doubled the dollars raised helping to save more hospitalized children within our community. The CO-OP Financial Services Miracle Match Program matches every dollar raised up to $10,000, and 20 percent of $50,000 and above, for a maximum match of $25,000.
Credit Unions for Kids is a collaboration of credit unions, leagues, chapters and business partners formed to raise money to benefit their regional children’s hospital, one of 170 hospitals affiliated with Children’s Miracle Network. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles treats more than 96,000 children annually.
