Marshall B. McLean Joins Environment & Energy and Corporate Practices of McCarter & English in Newark

NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Law firm McCarter & English LLP is pleased to announce that Marshall B. McLean has joined the firm’s Environment & Energy, and Corporate Practice Groups as Special Counsel. He will be based in the firm’s Newark, New Jersey office. McLean represents developers, manufacturers and investors in the renewable energy industry. He has assisted in the development, finance and sale of over 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy projects across the country, primarily in the wind, solar and geothermal sectors.

In the solar industry, McLean has experience in both photovoltaic and thermal solar projects. His work in this space includes the Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) projects in California and the Riverside Renewable Energy project in Gloucester City, NJ. Riverside is a 40MW rooftop photovoltaic project – the largest in North America – on the New Jersey side of Philadelphia’s Walt Whitman Bridge. McLean also helps companies succeed in the wind sector and has advised on some of the most high profile projects in the U.S., including the Alta wind project in Mojave, CA, currently, the largest in the U.S. The President of the New Jersey State Bar Association appointed McLean to co-chair the organization’s first-ever Special Committee on Renewable Energy, Clean Technology and Climate Change.

In addition, McLean maintains a traditional corporate practice focused on mid-market M&A matters, including corporate finance, securities law and regulatory compliance. He has advised international clients in connection with M&A deals in China and Europe in the chemicals, health care, life sciences, transportation, private equity, consumer products and banking sectors.

The Bernardsville, NJ resident earned his J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was a Lead Articles Editor for the Washington & Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice. He received his B.A. in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College. In 2011, McLean, who is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey, was recognized as a “Rising Star” by New Jersey Super Lawyer Magazine.

Prior to joining McCarter & English, McLean was an associate in the Corporate & Securities and Energy & Natural Resources Groups of Reed Smith LLP in Princeton, NJ.
