Humana Names Vice President and Medical Officer for Florida Commercial Markets

Dr. John Montgomery has a wealth of experience linking health plans and providers with patient-centered strategies

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of Florida’s leading health benefits companies, has named Dr. John Montgomery as its new vice president and medical officer for its Florida commercial markets.

In his new statewide role, Dr. Montgomery is responsible for leading Humana’s clinical programs for its commercial lines of business throughout the state. He will be based in Jacksonville.

Dr. Montgomery has been with Humana since October 2010, serving as the company’s regional medical director for Florida, responsible for clinical policy and physician clinical review. Recently, Dr. Montgomery also began overseeing all of Humana’s Commercial Outpatient Clinical Physician Review medical directors around the country.

Dr. Montgomery currently serves as a delegate to the Florida Medical Association and as an alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. He was just nominated chair-elect of the board for the American Cancer Society’s Florida division. Dr. Montgomery is also a past president of the Duval County Medical Society and past director of Volusia County Health Department.

He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University in Providence, RI, a master’s degree in public health from the Yale University School of Medicine, and his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine.
