Samaritan Health Streamlines Providers’ Access to Data With TriZetto’s Portal Solution

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The TriZetto Group, Inc., today announced that Samaritan Health, a health insurer that serves more than 50,000 members throughout Oregon, is making administrative tasks faster and easier for healthcare providers by using TriZetto’s technology-enabled solutions.

In 2010-2011, health insurance organizations in Oregon joined together in a statewide initiative to create a “single sign-on solution” that would give healthcare providers a convenient and secure way to access the provider sites of major local health plans and hospitals. The healthcare payers agreed to link their provider portals to an organization called OneHealthPort, which would assign security passwords to users, manage passwords and give users single sign-on access to each health plan’s provider portals. To participate in this program, Samaritan Health chose to leverage its provider service portal technology, a TriZetto application, rather than implement a costly new solution.

“We used our TriZetto technology, and the implementation process was both cost-effective and rapid,” said Kim Whitley, chief operating officer, Samaritan Health Plan Operations.

The project was completed in approximately four months in 2011, with minimal internal resources Whitley said, adding that “TriZetto’s consulting services provided essential support for the project.”

Efficiencies achieved with the single sign-on solution have enabled Samaritan Health to redeploy one full-time employee. In addition:

• Users now can manage their own credentials, which saves Samaritan Health time and expense.
• New troubleshooting tools enable the Samaritan Health customer-service staff to see what is on the user’s screen. This has increased efficiency greatly.
• The solution allows for a clearer picture of who has logged in and when.
