BOSTON--()--In partnership with the COPD Foundation, American Innovative Research, Corp. (A.I.R.) announces the launch of Air for You. Described by company officials as a campaign to raise funds for the development of advanced treatment options for patients suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, Air For You also aims at increasing the general public’s awareness of the impact and extent of those diseases.
“breathing fresh clean air is good for your health”
“COPD affects approximately 12 million Americans, with probably 12 million more still undiagnosed,” says COPD Foundation President, John Walsh, who adds that in our country alone, 120,000 people die from it every year.
According to Walsh, by reducing indoor airborne irritants and triggers, A.I.R.’s fresh clean air delivery system, the ICON, has already improved the quality of life of many COPD and Alpha-1 patients, and he comments, “The name of the campaign, ‘Air For You,’ states a clear mission and positions A.I.R. Corp. as a committed partner in the COPD Foundation’s quest for more effective treatments against those debilitating diseases.”
A.I.R’s CEO and founder David Palmer explains that Air For You will run through December 2013 and defines the campaign components, stating that A.I.R. will match the first $10,000 in contributions to the COPD Foundation, restricted to supporting their research activities, and that the company will also contribute $100 for each ICON fresh clean air delivery system sold during the campaign period. “The contributions will be made in the name of the patient, or anonymously, depending on the wishes of the person buying the system,” says A.I.R. COO and co-founder, Judith Piscione.
The COPD Foundation (a 501-c-3 not-for-profit organization) is leading the COPD community’s advocacy, research and awareness initiatives nationwide. With strong programs created in each of those three fields, the COPDF has been able to achieve great advances in improving the quality of life for those affected by COPD; that includes diagnosed and undiagnosed individuals along with their family and caregivers.
