SEOUL--()--SolarPark Korea Co., Ltd., a renewable energy company specializing in photovoltaic (PV) solar module production, announced today that it has passed the Potential Induced Degradation Test (“PID test”) for PV modules by TUV SUD, a global technical service organization which provides testing and certification to national and international standards in various industries.
“We are extremely satisfied with these results. Knowing that this test was becoming an important issue, our quality lab conducted several internal PID tests on modules to ensure good results”
The PID test was conducted at Photovoltaic Institute Berlin ("PI Berlin"), a renowned PV laboratory in Germany, to assess loss of power output of solar modules under severe conditions of high voltage, high temperature and high humidity. In recent years, the continuous degradation of solar modules, especially those exposed to humidity, has been one of the largest concerns of solar project owners. Thus, anti-PID performance has become one of the most important factors for solar module buyers in making purchasing decisions.
In order to assess the PID performance, the modules were exposed to 1,000 volts of bias voltage for 96 hours at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 85%. The maximum degradation of power output between initial and final measurement should not exceed 5%. Tests were done on five SolarPark Korea products, consisting of two 60 cell mono- and three multi- crystalline modules. The results were notified from TUV SUD on Sept. 26, 2012. All modules received “Quality Categorization A” with final measurements not exceeding 0.1%.
“We are extremely satisfied with these results. Knowing that this test was becoming an important issue, our quality lab conducted several internal PID tests on modules to ensure good results,” Mr. Hyunwoo Park, CEO of SolarPark Korea commented. He added, “Our modules were able to achieve this through our 100% automated production, which only leaves room for perfection and consistent high quality. Customers know that we stand by our quality and that we are reliable.”
