RIVER GROVE, Ill.--()--Guerin College Preparatory High School, 8001 W. Belmont Avenue, will host a 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration Weekend Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 through Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
“Through our events the memories of all those who have graduated from 80th and Belmont in the last 50 years will be recognized. We will also honor the current families whose generous support continues to make an excellent Catholic education possible here.”
The events wrap up a year-long celebration honoring Guerin Prep’s founding schools, Mother Theodore Guerin and Holy Cross High Schools which opened in 1961 and 1962, respectively.
Guerin Prep is entering its eighth year having begun in 2004 when Holy Cross High School for boys was closed, and Mother Theodore Guerin High School for girls was renamed and opened as a co-educational college preparatory high school.
“We will bring together alumni from all three schools in our celebration,” said Tina Lilly, director of alumni relations. “Through our events the memories of all those who have graduated from 80th and Belmont in the last 50 years will be recognized. We will also honor the current families whose generous support continues to make an excellent Catholic education possible here.”
The 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration Weekend events follow:
Friday, Nov. 2 – 7 pm to 11 pm, Reunion Night at the Underpass Lounge in Franklin Park for years ending in a 2 or 7 from Holy Cross, Mother Guerin, and Guerin Prep. To register for tickets, go to www.guerinprep.org.
Saturday, Nov. 3 – 5:30 pm to 11 pm, 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration on campus with cocktails and appetizers and an Art “Gallery of Time” at Guerin Prep followed by dinner, a paddle raise and a silent auction in the Holy Cross Athletic Center. Tickets are $95 per person before Oct. 19 and $115 after. Register for tickets at www.guerinprep.org. Honorees will be: Golden Alumna Award – Mary Anne Boff Luczak ’71; Golden Almunus Award – Dr. Vincent Bufalino ’70; Heritage Family – the Libreri Family & Da Luciano’s Restaurant, and Legacy Family – the Tarpey Family.
Sunday, Nov. 4 – 11:00 am, Memorial and Celebration Mass in Guerin Prep's Cuny Auditorium.
