Projects Provide Massage Therapy to Individuals Facing Serious Life Changing Experiences

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BIOTONE today announces a donation of $15,000 to support two Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) 2012 community service projects. Since 2004, BIOTONE has been a major MTF donor, contributing more than $100,000 to the Foundation’s programs and services. BIOTONE’s contribution this year makes it possible for individuals going through serious life changing experiences to benefit from massage.

About the BIOTONE Funded Projects

“Free Fulfillment” is a program offered by the Exodus Transitional Community out of Brooklyn, NY, to provide stress-reducing professional massage to former inmates attempting to begin new lives following their release from prison. A prior recipient of a 2011 MTF Community Service Grant, Free Fulfillment had a 96 percent success rate at reducing stress levels in participants, who face a number of challenges in finding employment, locating stable housing and maintaining relationships.

“Grief Massage” offered by The Respite, in Charlotte, N.C., helps individuals reclaim their lives following the loss of a loved one. The grant will allow the grief massage project at The Respite to provide weekly Swedish massage sessions to individuals who have suffered traumatic loss in the past year.
