DALLAS--()--The National Law Journal (NLJ) just recently announced that the law firm of Baron and Budd has been selected for the NLJ’s venerable Plaintiffs’ “Hot List.” This is the eighth time that the law firm has been chosen to be on the list. Plaintiffs’ law firms from around the country submit their information for consideration each year. The NLJ then conducts a comprehensive analysis on the summative work of each firm before choosing those to be given the prestigious accolade. Baron and Budd is one of the most nationally recognized mesothelioma law firms in the country.
“I am so proud to be selected for such a distinguished honor”
Every year, the NLJ list selects plaintiffs’ firms that have achieved groundbreaking, cutting-edge work in representing clients who have been harmed by corporate wrongdoing. Baron and Budd was one of 19 law firms chosen for the list this year.
In the announcement, the NLJ highlighted the tremendous scope of Baron and Budd’s work and praised the firm for expanding its role in financial class actions in addition to being one of the most recognized mesothelioma law firms in the country. The announcement also recognized two other Baron and Budd cases: the consumer class action against JP Morgan Chase & Co and the precedent-setting settlement reached in the BP oil spill litigation.
Baron and Budd served on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the Chase overdraft litigation, which resulted in a preliminary national settlement of $110 million. Baron and Budd shareholder Scott Summy served on the BP oil spill’s Executive Steering Committee. In March 2012, the committee reached a $7.8 billion settlement in principle with BP.
"I am so proud to be selected for such a distinguished honor," said Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of Baron and Budd. "As a law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of anyone who has been harmed, it’s very rewarding to be recognized for our willingness to take on new and meaningful litigation on behalf of consumers who have been taken advantage of in so many ways.”
In addition to Baron and Budd’s most recent endeavors, the firm has remained steadfastly committed to its cornerstone mesothelioma lawsuit practice. For almost 35 years, the mesothelioma lawyers at Baron and Budd have been representing mesothelioma patients against the asbestos companies responsible for their disease. Baron and Budd has been chosen for the list in the past thanks to the tremendous and unwavering work of its mesothelioma attorneys. The firm continues to represent individuals and businesses affected by the BP oil spill as well as consumers who have been harmed by fraudulent banking practices. The firm looks forward to submitting its work to the NLJ next year for consideration.
