BOSTON--()--Terascala, the Fast Data company, today announced that Dr. Jim Rothnie has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Dr. Rothnie retired from EMC in July 2002 as senior vice president and chief technology officer. He has continued to serve as an advisor to the industry on business strategies and innovation.

Terascala also announced today it has opened an office in Boston to support its strong growth and to attract key talent. The new office is located at 100 North Washington Street, Fifth Floor, Boston. The company continues to maintain its office in Avon, Massachusetts.

Dr. Rothnie has held other executive leadership positions, including vice president of software development at Data General Corporation; executive vice president of Kendall Square Research, where he led the development of large-scale parallel computers and related software; and president and COO of Computer Corporation of America. Dr. Rothnie holds a B.S. and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
