AUSTIN, Texas--()--The new Texas College & Career resource site www.TexasCollegeandCareer.org is now available state-wide at no-cost to all Texas secondary students, their families and educators. Recently launched by The Texas Education Agency and funded during the 82nd session of the Texas Legislature, lawmakers appropriated funds for the creation of a statewide online college and career readiness portal to provide online college and career preparation assistance to students, parents or guardians, school counselors, mentors and educators. Texas College & Career targets an increase in the rate of K12 graduates transitioning to positive postsecondary outcomes.
Texas College & Career provides the key components of college and career planning all in one centralized location that’s easy to use. It’s accessible online anywhere, anytime and is available to fully browse in English or Spanish.
Interactive Planning Tools: Texas College & Career has interactive planning tools and checklists, including intuitive portfolio and resume building, interactive self-assessments, compatible career exploration and helps search scholarships and analyze financial aid costs.
College & Career Search Tools: Texas College & Career helps to customize college and career searches, collaborate on college and career lists, search 4,500+ college profiles and 1,100 career profiles, and to compare these profiles with student interests.
Communication Tools: Parents, counselors, teachers and mentors can connect with students to send emails and alerts to communicate important events and deadlines. Students can receive reminders on upcoming test, scholarship or application deadlines.
Training is available at no cost for teachers, counselors, mentors, families and students via the several online, live webinars each month. Webinars such as Do You Need Money for College on October 17th at 6 p.m. and Best Careers for 2013 and Beyond on November 14th at 6 p.m. help families participate in postsecondary planning. There are also recorded webinars for quick and easy download at any time for convenience.
