Welcome

Averail Hires Security and Software Veteran Marc Olesen as President and CEO

Former Vontu and Kana founder Michael Wolfe also joins the Board of Directors

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Averail, an early stage company developing a trusted mobile document solution for the enterprise, announced today the appointment of Marc Olesen as its new president and chief executive officer. In addition, the company announced that Michael Wolfe has been elected to the board of directors.

“We are thrilled to have Marc Olesen lead the organization”

Marc brings more than 20 years of experience in business software and cloud-based solutions with proven success in organizational leadership, business management and solution development. Before joining Averail, Marc served as senior vice president and general manager at McAfee, where he was responsible for leading over 700 people in the Network, Content and Cloud Security business unit. In this role, Marc led the worldwide growth strategy and drove overall operations for engineering, marketing and sales. Prior to McAfee, Marc was vice president of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) unit at Mercury Interactive and continued to lead that business following its acquisition by HP. Marc’s career also includes executive roles at companies including DNAnexus, Qwest CyberSolutions, BearingPoint, Remedy and Oracle.

“We are thrilled to have Marc Olesen lead the organization,” said John Drewry, Averail co-founder and vice president of marketing. “As we get closer to bringing our mobile document solution to market, the timing is right to expand our executive team. Marc brings tremendous depth and leadership expertise from security and software businesses that will enable us to build and scale a winning company while delivering on our vision to customers.”

Averail announced initial venture capital financing earlier this year and the company’s mobile product is in limited release. Averail is pursuing a new approach to securing mobile documents that gives end users the ease of use they need while still preserving the right levels of protection for the organization. Unlike other mobile solutions that require organizations to deploy new or secondary storage, Averail extends native access to Microsoft® SharePoint® and other storage sites. This preserves governance, minimizes storage costs, eliminates unnecessary overhead and promotes better collaboration across the organization.

“I’m joining the Averail team at an exciting time for both the company and the industry," said Marc Olesen. "As more enterprises seek to extend vital business content to mobile devices, Averail is uniquely poised to transform the way people access and share that information.”

Michael Wolfe is currently CEO at Pipewise, a software startup based in San Francisco. Previously, Michael was a co-founder and vice president of engineering at Vontu, a leader in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions acquired by Symantec in 2007. Before Vontu, Michael co-founded Kana, the pioneer in web-based CRM which enjoyed a successful IPO in 1999.
