MINNEAPOLIS--()--The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) has selected a PhD student of Capella University (http://www.capella.edu) to receive their Student of the Year award. Mark Warnick, M. Sc., ALEM, is earning his PhD in Public Safety with a specialization in Emergency Management from Capella, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults. Warnick will be formally recognized with the award at the upcoming IAEM 60th annual conference in Orlando on October 30. The Student of the Year award recognizes a student who has made significant contributions to the field of emergency and disaster management through volunteer work, promotion of the field, and contribution in their community. High academic achievement is also required. Warnick is the Treasurer for the IAEM Student Region and is the Treasurer/Secretary of the Capella IAEM Chapter. In addition, Warnick is active training local firefighters and consults on disaster preparedness.
