The Student of the Year award recognizes a student who has made significant contributions to the field of emergency and disaster management through volunteer work, promotion of the field, and contribution in their community. High academic achievement is also required. Warnick is the Treasurer for the IAEM Student Region and is the Treasurer/Secretary of the Capella IAEM Chapter. In addition, Warnick is active training local firefighters and consults on disaster preparedness.
