WASHINGTON--()--The Union of Unemployed (UCubed) is not the least bit flattered by a copycat attack ad released today by Republican super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF). The ad targeting Ohio Democrat Betty Sutton borrows heavily from UCubed’s revolutionary social media campaign, BEE MAD @ THE GOP, which has recently gone viral with over two million video downloads on Facebook.
“And they lie through their teeth even as they do it.”
“Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but the CLF’s attempt to mimic our BEE MAD @ THE GOP campaign is an example of how dishonest and devoid of new ideas the GOP has become,” said UCubed Executive Director Rick Sloan. “And they lie through their teeth even as they do it.”
UCubed’s BEE MAD @ THE GOP campaign began in July 2012 with the goal of helping the unemployed target their anger and frustration about the current jobs crisis where it rightfully belongs: on the GOP. Matching worker bees against elephants, the Republican mascot, the campaign uses micro-videos encouraging the unemployed to “swarm to the polls” in November and hand the GOP a “stinging” defeat.
“Before watching their copycat ad, you should know that the CLF is the super PAC supported by Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and 80 members of the House Republican Caucus,” said Sloan in a Facebook message to UCubed’s 127,895 Facebook fans. “They’re the PAC-a-derms we have been stinging for twelve weeks.”
