PROVO, Utah--()--Vivint™, the largest home automation services company in North America, today announced it has raised $1.5 million from its Vivint Gives Back “Summer of Service” initiative.
“There is always someone in need and Vivint’s goal is to make a difference in the lives of those that need a helping hand.”
Vivint employees personally donated one-half of the total money raised, a percentage of which was raised in June when employees were encouraged to donate a portion of their commissions to go toward funding these various regional causes. Vivint matched the employee contributions with corporate funds, bringing the total contribution to $1.5 million.
During summer months, the Vivint Gives Back campaign focused on raising funds and providing hands-on service in local communities and set a goal of completing 80 separate projects with more than 6,000 hours of time donated by employees. The company partnered with Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Tapestries of Light to collaborate on several charitable ventures.
“At Vivint, service isn’t something we say, it’s something we live,” said Josh Houser, president of Vivint Gives Back. “Vivint’s commitment to giving back includes everything from organizing meals for children who don’t have enough to eat to building homes for deserving families.”
In the first eight months of 2012, more than 2,600 Vivint employees volunteered 8,400 hours of their time. Most of the service was performed during this past summer. In addition to funds raised, Vivint employees packed nearly 210,000 meals for Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that provides food for needy children worldwide. The prepared meals will feed 575 children for one year.
“More than 115 different service projects have been completed so far this year,” Houser added. “There is always someone in need and Vivint’s goal is to make a difference in the lives of those that need a helping hand.”
