WALTHAM, Mass.--(Verdasys, the leader in Enterprise Information Protection (EIP) solutions and managed services for enterprise and midmarket companies, today introduced the industry's first iOS mobile app for data protection. Announced in conjunction with Digital Guardian [DG] 6.1, the iOS mobile app advances the leadership of DG as the first information protection platform to extend data monitoring and usage control to iOS devices. By monitoring and controlling all channels through which sensitive data travels from the enterprise to these devices, the Digital Guardian platform and iOS Mobile App together offer a complete enterprise information protection solution that extends to iPhones and iPads.)--
“By extending platform coverage to iOS devices, Verdasys offers an effective solution to monitor sensitive data going to these devices, control access and usage of this data while it is on the device and create audit logs of all these data events.”
“Verdasys' products already fully instrument the corporate enterprise -- client and server alike -- so data shared with an iOS device can be controlled on the way in and controlled on the way out and now monitored on the device. Data in motion is a good thing, so long as you know that it is in motion and you can control what that motion involves,” said Dan Geer, CISO at IN-Q-Tel and Verdasys Chief Scientist Emeritus.
The Digital Guardian iOS Mobile App is deployed from the corporate app-store and extends Digital Guardian data access and control policies onto the iOS device. Sensitive business information, identified and encrypted by the Digital Guardian platform, can only be accessed on mobile devices once user/device combinations are registered, and where the user meets Digital Guardian access and usage policies. Digital Guardian forensic logging of data events is also extended out to the iOS device.
"Whether corporate owned or a personal device, iOS-based smart phones and tablets are permeating the business landscape, especially at the executive levels. They have fast become intrinsic to organizations' quest to have access to information anytime and anyplace. Companies struggle to understand what sensitive information is being sent to these devices and how that information is being accessed and used," said Bill Ledingham, Verdasys CTO. “By extending platform coverage to iOS devices, Verdasys offers an effective solution to monitor sensitive data going to these devices, control access and usage of this data while it is on the device and create audit logs of all these data events.”
The DG iOS Mobile App supports MS Office, Apple iWork and PDF documents. Generic document format support is provided via DG VDI solutions. All data events from the enterprise to and on the mobile device are forensically recorded. Digital Guardian iOS Mobile App will be generally available with the DG 6.1 platform, on Nov 30.
