LIBERTYVILLE, Ill.--()--Valent BioSciences Corporation (VBC) announced it has hired Mike Daily as plant manager for its new state-of-the art biorational production facility in Osage, IA. The $150 million plant is slated to begin operations in mid-2014.

VBC is the leader in developing and commercializing biorational products in 95 countries around the world. Biorationals are products typically derived from biological origins that are highly specific in their activity while providing economic, health, and/or environmental benefits. These products include microbial insecticides, fungicides and nematicides, as well as plant growth regulators used in production agriculture and managing stress in crops.

Daily holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and a master of business administration degree in global management. In addition to his most recent role as plant manager for an energy firm, he has also held a number of key technical, production, and process engineering positions over a 16-year career in biological manufacturing.
Construction for VBC’s new 130,000 square-foot facility remains ahead of schedule. The utilities building has been finished and steel for the plant superstructure is nearly complete. A critical component in a long-term economic development plan for Mitchell County and the state of Iowa, the VBC manufacturing facility will be the first-ever plant designed and dedicated entirely to the manufacturing of biorationals.
