An affordable pathway to nursing leadership
“Because of the
growing call for nurses to advance their education beyond an RN license,
a BSN is no longer the differentiator it used to be. Our five-course
certificate is designed for nurses with a BSN looking for an affordable
way to expand their knowledge of nursing leadership and administration,”
said Mary Bemker, DSN, director of Capella's Nursing Department. “For
those who eventually want to earn an MSN, these courses transfer
directly into Capella’s Nursing Leadership and Administration MSN
specialization, as well as certain emphases in our General MSN
specialization. This certificate would also be valuable to nurses who
already hold an MSN or DNP and want to add to their knowledge of nursing
leadership.”
The Nursing Leadership certificate uses an evidence-based approach that provides current and aspiring nurse executives the opportunity to further develop the skills and knowledge needed to oversee quality and safety, manage finances and operations, lead innovations, and respond to challenges and trends within a health care organization. Capella offers access to convenient electronic textbooks for each course within the certificate, which lowers costs and allows students to immediately access their course materials.
Capella’s range of educational offerings in the nursing profession also includes a CCNE-accredited** Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) focused on administrative, organizational, and systems leadership in the nursing field; a CCNE-accredited MSN program with specializations in General Nursing, Nursing Leadership and Administration, Nurse Educator, Gerontology Nursing, and Diabetes Nursing, and RN-to-MSN specializations in Diabetes Nursing, Gerontology Nursing, Nurse Educator, Nursing Leadership and Administration, and General Nursing; a CCNE-accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); and a post-bachelor's Diabetes Nursing certificate.
