American Nurses Credentialing Center Selects Capella University Graduate to Serve on Its Commission for Accreditation

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has selected a PhD graduate of Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, to serve on its Commission for Accreditation. Jean Shinners, who earned a PhD in Education from the online university, has been elected to a four-year term with the Commission.

The ANCC is the world's largest nurse credentialing organization, and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA). In her role, Shinners and the other Commission members will review applications for accreditation and determine when accreditation should be granted.

In related news, the Board of Commissioners of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has announced that it has accredited Capella University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) online degree program. All of the online nursing degree programs at Capella are now CCNE-accredited, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
