SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Kno, Inc., www.kno.com, a pioneer in education software, unveiled its digital textbook application for the new Windows 8® operating system. Kno’s new education app will be available in the Windows 8 App Store (http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows-8/apps) and from numerous manufacturers on devices supporting Windows 8.

“And, because the Windows operating system is the most used in the world, we’re now able to bring our interactive learning tools to even more students and teachers whether they are using a laptop or tablet in the classroom.”

“Kno and Microsoft share an unwavering commitment to improving education through digital technologies that enhance the student learning process to achieve better outcomes,” said Osman Rashid, CEO and co-Founder, Kno. “And, because the Windows operating system is the most used in the world, we’re now able to bring our interactive learning tools to even more students and teachers whether they are using a laptop or tablet in the classroom.”

The new Kno for Windows 8 app takes advantage of the new Windows 8 features such as Charms, which are a set of shortcuts to common tasks that are available anywhere within the system.

  • Charms allow students to multi-task and jump between applications, the Internet and files.
  • The Search Charm allows seamless searching to find what they are looking for more easily wherever that information may be.
  • The Share Charm allows users to quickly share links or files either via Mail, with the People app, or through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. This is especially helpful in the learning environment by facilitating collaboration between teachers and students as well as student to student sharing.

Kno makes learning more engaging and saves students up to 90 minutes a week in study time per book, according to research from Kno. The Kno application offers more than 70 interactive features that are designed to increase learning efficiencies and engagement.

Kno offers over 200,000 digital titles from over 65 leading textbook publishers for the K-12 and higher education market. Kno is now available for the iPad, Android, Web, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
