SAN ANTONIO--()--Whataburger announced today six executive team members have been promoted to new leadership roles within the company. These individuals previously held leadership roles at Whataburger and will take on expanded duties and responsibilities in each of their respective positions.

- Clifton Rutledge, who has served as Whataburger Restaurants chief operations officer, will take on the new role of senior vice president and chief operating officer of Whataburger Restaurants.
- Dino Del Nano, formerly vice president business systems and supply chain solutions, will now serve as senior vice president of Whataburger retail.
- James Turcotte, previously vice president of properties and facilities, will assume the new role of senior vice president of Whataburger real estate.
- Edward E. Nelson, Jr., who held the role of chief financial officer, will take on the new role of senior vice president and chief financial officer of Whataburger retail, restaurants and real estate.
- Michael Gibbs, formerly vice president and general counsel, will now serve as senior vice president and general counsel of Whataburger retail, restaurants and real estate.
- Rich Scheffler, previously group director for marketing and innovation, has been promoted to the role of vice president of marketing and innovation for Whataburger.
Through these executive team promotions, Whataburger aims to continue to explore growth opportunities while still focusing on providing fresh made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service at each of its hometown restaurants.

Family-owned Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, all-American beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 735 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually.
