“During tough economic times, it is sometimes difficult for students to justify the cost of going back to school”
Golden Gate University is in the top 15 percent of colleges and universities nationwide that have committed to a large grant for the Yellow Ribbon Program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 that enables eligible veterans to start or complete their higher educational goals at little or no cost.
The latest efforts include a website update to make it easy for military personnel and veterans to see what they are eligible for and to enroll. In addition, GGU invites all military personnel and veterans to a Veterans’ Appreciation Celebration luncheon event scheduled for Thurs., Nov. 1, from noon to 2 pm, on campus at 536 Mission Street, 6th floor. The luncheon will honor military, veterans and family members of those who have served their country.
“During tough economic times, it is sometimes difficult for students to justify the cost of going back to school,” said Dan Angel, GGU president. “In honor and appreciation of our military personnel and veterans, GGU is committed to lightening the economic burden and supporting them in their challenging transitions back to civilian life. After all they’ve done for us, it’s the least we can do for them.”
Other GGU benefits for the military and veterans include:
