KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--Senior Star at Wexford Place, an award winning retirement community located at 6500 N. Cosby Avenue, is breaking ground on an addition to the campus that will create 67 more apartment homes and expand the amount of care offered to residents.
“Personalized resident and family care is at the very core of what we do best; we are eager to offer these services to more families in the Northland.”
The new addition will be a single story, ranch style design located just south of the existing Independent Living building and will include 43 Assisted Living apartment homes for seniors who need more assistance and care and 24 Memory Care apartment homes for seniors facing Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
“I’ve been with Senior Star for over 30 years and have seen first-hand how much the need for quality compassionate care for seniors has grown,” said Anja Rogers, Chief Operating Officer of Senior Star. “Our mission is to be there for those seniors. We are passionate about growing our company to offer more community lifestyles that mirror the vibrant spirit of today’s seniors and that alleviate worry from their family members.”
Overland Park’s Purdum Construction has been hired for pre-development and construction management services for the project. Also engaged for the design are: Interior Design Associates, Inc., Schlagel and Associates, CFS Engineers, and Beery Rio Architects.
“We put together an exceptional team with decades of senior living experience to ensure the resulting expansion will complement the current community and the city at large,” said Rogers. The expansion will include a new spa, resort style fire place, multi-purpose theater room, a learning enrichment room, a private dining room, a café and will be surrounded by mature landscaping.
“We are taking very careful measures to ensure that the design of our campus expansion will allow employees the best environment in which to provide compassionate, meaningful and innovative care,” said Owner Robert Thomas. “Personalized resident and family care is at the very core of what we do best; we are eager to offer these services to more families in the Northland.”
The new addition to the campus is scheduled to open one year from now and pre-leasing is currently available. For more information, please call Letitia Jackson, 918-704-2832.
