NEW YORK--()--SWAROVSKI will once again be the exclusive crystal sponsor for one of the world’s most eagerly anticipated events: the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Over one million SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS will be incorporated into 14 fabulous bespoke creations that will certainly surpass any of the looks the two brands have collaborated on until now. Among them will be the shimmering, diaphanous 10th Anniversary look by Todd Thomas, designer for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, constructed by Barak Stribling with intricate beading by Polly Kinney. Set to steal the show, this ultra-special anniversary piece will be featured in the Silver Screen Angel section of show. Glamorous and resplendent with Art Deco motifs and full of cinematic drama, this look represents the most anticipated costume of the collection. The show will present a total of 65 creations painstakingly fashioned from lace and brocades and enriched with embroidery techniques and elaborate beading.
“It has been exciting to watch our partnership grow year after year to not only create the most dazzling and inspiring costumes on the runway - but to bring that special appeal to the consumer as well.”
The extravagant runway show will also feature 28 pairs of iconic Victoria’s Secrets ‘Angel’ wings, exquisitely jeweled couture centerpieces encrusted with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS that are set to be an absolute highlight of the glittering presentation. Accessorized by Nicholas Kirkwood’s trademark fantasy footwear, theatrical jewelry from Larry Vrba, with additional pieces from David Mandel, and crystal-accented stockings and accessories, they will be presented by a bevy of top models.
“Each year, we’re faced with the challenge of living up to the last spectacular Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and to achieve this, we rely on lots and lots of shimmering, luxurious SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. We have created many more looks using crystal because we really want to celebrate our decade of collaboration with Swarovski. To mark this very special occasion more than one quarter of the items in the collection are based around SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, and almost the entire show is accented with crystal,” said Thomas.”
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on Tuesday, December 4 at 10/9C on the CBS television network. This year, it will feature musical performances from Grammy® Award-winning artists Rihanna and Bruno Mars, and Grammy® Award-nominated artist Justin Bieber, pink carpet interviews, supermodel profiles, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the world's most celebrated fashion show.
“SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS is proud to have contributed to the glamour and sparkle of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show over the past 10 years,” said Reinhard Mackinger, executive vice president, Swarovski Elements Business, North America. “It has been exciting to watch our partnership grow year after year to not only create the most dazzling and inspiring costumes on the runway - but to bring that special appeal to the consumer as well.”
