ATLANTA--()--The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world’s largest user knowledgebase for Oracle Applications users, announced that it has released the results of an OAUG ResearchLine study that focused on ERP upgrade economics.
The study, conducted by Unisphere Research and fielded in partnership with Fujitsu America, Inc., is based on a survey of 266 enterprise application and business managers involved with or knowledgeable about their organizations’ budgeting process, conducted among members of the OAUG in August 2012 to explore ERP upgrade strategies.
Key findings from the study include the following:
- Nearly one-fourth of respondents reported their original 2012 upgrade budget was scaled back or cut due to their organizations’ financial situation. Most ERP upgrade projects are funded by IT departments, however, one-fifth of survey respondents report funding coming from corporate or other lines of business.
- Close to half of the enterprises in the survey have already moved to the latest ERP solution. Another 42 percent are in the process of upgrading or planning an upgrade to the latest release in the next 12 months.
- Respondents are divided on whether they will use the upgrade to expand functionality or simply make a technical upgrade. Financial and procurement applications are the areas being targeted the most for upgrades.
- Approximately two-thirds of respondents report their ERP upgrade projects have been delivered on time and on budget. One-fourth have delayed projects due to economic pressures. Approximately 80 percent of respondents report some disruption to their business as a result of their upgrade, but that the disruptions do not last more than five days.
