FORT LEE, N.J.--()--SAFE-BioPharma has introduced a new, globally portable digital identity credential that allows any computer including tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices to assert a digital identity and to securely apply high assurance digital signatures to electronic documents.
“We developed SAFE-BioPharma Mobile to support industry’s embrace of Internet-based global collaboration. It’s being incorporated into use for clinical study collaboration, adverse event reporting, authentication into portals and applications, eTMFs, regulatory document management systems, and eSampling”
Unlike other SAFE-BioPharma identity credentials, the SAFE-BioPharma® Mobile credential is stored in a secure hardware module in the cloud and can be accessed wherever there is Internet connectivity.
The cost of SAFE-BioPharma Mobile credentials is about one-half that of token-based credentials. There are no unique hardware tokens to manage, no drivers to install or maintain, and a single credential can be accessed by multiple devices.
“We developed SAFE-BioPharma Mobile to support industry’s embrace of Internet-based global collaboration. It’s being incorporated into use for clinical study collaboration, adverse event reporting, authentication into portals and applications, eTMFs, regulatory document management systems, and eSampling,” said Mollie Shields-Uehling, president and CEO, SAFE-BioPharma Association.
Like all cyber identities based on the SAFE-BioPharma standard, SAFE-BioPharma Mobile identities will be trusted by the FDA and other US federal government agencies. The new credential is a single, universal cyber-identity. It eliminates the need to maintain multiple usernames and passwords and/or multiple digital identities.
In the coming months, SAFE-BioPharma Mobile credentials will be deployed to hundreds of thousands of US prescribers to help them meet DEA requirements for ePrescribing controlled substances.
