Signal Hill Announces Promotions of Hart, Berstein, Dolan, Fiore and Puccio

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Signal Hill, a premier investment banking partnership serving the M&A advisory and private capital raising needs of growth companies, is pleased to announce the promotions of Alexander Hart, Robert Berstein, David Dolan, Matt Fiore, Clint Karcher, Michael Kremen and Justin Puccio. Signal Hill’s Board of Directors has admitted Mr. Hart into the firm’s Partnership; Mr. Berstein, Mr. Dolan, Mr. Fiore and Mr. Puccio have been promoted from Vice President to Director and Mr. Karcher and Mr. Kremen have been promoted from Associate to Vice President. All promotions were effective January 1, 2013.

Alexander Hart

Mr. Hart joined Signal Hill in April 2012 as the head of the firm’s Boston-based Internet & Digital Media (IDM) practice. Since April, Mr. Hart has closed transactions with marquee strategic acquirers such as Google, Nielsen (pending) and Oracle. As Partner, Mr. Hart will continue to expand Signal Hill’s increasingly successful Internet & Digital Media practice.

Mr. Hart has over 17 years of investment banking experience, most specifically focused in the IDM sector. Prior to joining Signal Hill, Mr. Hart was a Managing Director at Morgan Keegan/Revolution Partners. He also spent time as a Managing Director at Jefferies Broadview, leading and building the firm’s Internet & Digital Media practice. Mr. Hart has worked on a varied set of transactions throughout his career as an investment banker, advising a wide range of public and private companies, leading transactions domestically and internationally in M&A, private financings, IPO, follow-on offerings and debt financings. Mr. Hart holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Harvard University.

Recent Signal Hill transactions include advising Arbitron on its sale to Nielsen (pending), the sale of Incentive Targeting to Google, JustGiving in its divestiture of FirstGiving to FrontStream Payments and Involver in its sale to Oracle. In recent months, prior to joining Signal Hill, Mr. Hart completed transactions with RacingJunk.com/Internet Brands, Vistaprint/Webs and Cardlytics/Aimia.

Robert Berstein

Mr. Berstein has more than 15 years of financial experience with both investment banking and venture capital firms, with a focus on digital media. Mr. Berstein’s recent Signal Hill transactions include the sale of Incentive Targeting to Google, JustGiving in its divestiture of FirstGiving to FrontStream Payments and Involver in its sale to Oracle. As Director, Mr. Berstein will continue to focus on Signal Hill’s Internet & Digital Media practice.

David Dolan

Mr. Dolan has over seven years of investment banking experience, focusing on middle-market companies in the Enterprise Application Software and Infrastructure Software sectors. Mr. Dolan’s notable Signal Hill transactions include the sale of True Commerce to HighJump, iJet’s sale to 3i-MIND, Alertsite’s acquisition by SmartBear, the sale of Agentek to Versata, the merger of MCA and Servigistics, the sale of Clarus Systems to OPNet, Punch!’s acquisition by Encore, the sale of iET to Unicom and Tangoe’s IPO. Mr. Dolan will focus on Signal Hill’s Enterprise Application Software practice, particularly the Enterprise Mobility sector, in his role as Director.

Matt Fiore

Mr. Fiore has more than 10 years of investment banking and corporate development experience, advising companies in the IT and Business Services sectors. Mr. Fiore’s notable Signal Hill transactions include the strategic investment in Insight Global by H.I.G. Capital, Software Architects’ acquisition by Capgemini, Acclaris’ growth buyout by Staley Capital-HarbourVest Partners-Trident Capital-Updata Venture Partners, the sale of Intrasphere to Deloitte and Ironworks Consulting’s acquisition by ICF International. As Director, Mr. Fiore will focus on Signal Hill’s IT Security practice.

Justin Puccio

Mr. Puccio has over 16 years of experience in the Internet Infrastructure and Telecom industry, in both investment banking and operating roles. Mr. Puccio’s notable Signal Hill transactions include the sale of EasyStreet to Seaport Capital, Azaleos’ acquisition by Avanade, sale of CoSentry to TA Associates, Peak 10’s acquisition by Welsh Carson, growth equity capital raise for i/o Data Centers, growth equity capital raise for Logicworks, buy-side acquisition of Network-I for Virtustream, expansion capital raise for Sabey Data Centers with NREA, sale of VISI Incorporated to TDS Telecom and others, valued at over $1.7B. Mr. Puccio will continue to focus on Signal Hill’s Internet Infrastructure practice in his role as Director.
