HUNT VALLEY, Md.--()--The nursing associations of the National Healthcare Career Network (NHCN) initiated the Take Charge of Your Nursing Career™ learning series in 2012 to provide nurses across all disciplines and experience levels with career management advice. With support from major trade associations including the American Hospital Association, the webinars feature proven nurse leaders sharing their insights on topics ranging from preparing for leadership to learning ways to manage everyday challenges.
“How to create a competitive advantage in today’s job market”
In a session scheduled to air from January 24-29 (on-demand 24 hours each day), Ann Bures, Lead Nurse Recruiter at the University of Maryland Medical Center, will guide attendees through a strategic process for successful job hunting. In a discussion entitled, “How to create a competitive advantage in today’s job market,” Ms. Bures will be accompanied by Dr. Phyllis Quinlan, Professional Nursing Coach, and will offer tips on preparing strong cover letters and resumes, handling telephone and in-person interviews, and planning effective follow-up techniques.
Carol Barber, Managing Director of the NHCN, said, “Our nursing association partners often get requests from their members for advice on how to launch a winning job search. We are delighted that Ms. Bures is donating her time to offer practical, very relevant tips to help nurses understand the competitive landscape and present themselves in a compelling manner. Plus, Dr. Quinlan will offer her insights and provide attendees with a number of free resources for more information. Nurses interested in attending the January webinar can register here.”
Comprised of nearly 300 professional healthcare associations, the NHCN’s roster includes some of nursing’s most prestigious organizations. With a mission to connect employers with high-quality talent, the NHCN is entering its fifth year as a primary source for targeted recruiting across 13 specialties.
According to Barber, “The NHCN offers a sophisticated, one-click approach for employers and job seekers, which we are very proud of. But our dedication to serving our partners’ members with programs such as the “Take Charge” series distinguishes the NHCN as more than a comprehensive network of job boards, but also as healthcare’s partner in developing the workforce of the future.”
