ATLANTA--()--Atlanta-based LawDocsXpress (www.lawdocsxpress.com) reported its second consecutive year of record revenues driven by a 50.2 percent increase in outsourced legal word processing services particularly among AMLAW 100 law firms. The 11-year-old company started its legal word processing line of business in 2010.
“Previously mid-sized law firms with between 250-500 attorneys were driving the changes in staff restructuring and expense reduction, but that began to shift in 2012.”
“In 2012 AMLAW 100 firms began to focus more attention on improving support staff efficiency with word processing clearly one of their initial targets,” said Catherine Massey, co-founder and chairman. “Previously mid-sized law firms with between 250-500 attorneys were driving the changes in staff restructuring and expense reduction, but that began to shift in 2012.”
In March 2012, LawDocsXpress announced expansion and enhancement of its legal word processing services and proprietary workflow management software. “We introduced an innovative pricing structure targeted specifically to larger law firms and corporate legal departments, which has materially impacted our growth,” added Massey.
2012 saw several major law firm mergers and these new entities will most likely be examining internal efficiencies in the coming year. “The trend in law firm mergers shows all the signs of a classic industry consolidation,” said Sharon Quaintance, co-founder and CEO. “We expect continued strong demand for outsourced legal word processing and legal secretarial services as these newly merged entities quickly and efficiently assess redundancies. Legal support staff outsourcing should be at the top of the list, so firms can focus on retaining attorneys. After all, attorneys provide all the intellectual capital – they are a law firm’s core competency.”
