Barney & Barney Names Four New Principals

Leading Insurance Brokerage Promotes Top Producers, Expands Ownership Group

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Barney & Barney, LLC, one of the nation’s largest, independent insurance brokerages, today announced the promotion of four senior executives to principals of the firm.

The new owners are Dianne Wingfield and Todd Bennett, executives in the firm’s Employee Benefits practice in San Diego; Steve Fisk, an executive in the firm’s Property & Casualty Group in Orange County; and Brian Hegarty, an executive in the Employee Benefits practice in Orange County.

Barney & Barney now has 40 partners in its four offices in San Diego, Orange County, Oakland and San Francisco.

The following is a brief biography about each of the new principals:

• Dianne Wingfield, Principal, PHR, REBC, RHU, CSFS. Wingfield joined Barney & Barney’s Employee Benefits practice in 2009 and has more than 35 years of experience, including 16 years as a Third-Party Administrator and six years representing insurance companies. At Barney & Barney, Wingfield is responsible for strategic program design and implementation of employee benefits programs for both fully-insured and self-insured programs. Wingfield attended San Diego State University and holds four professional designations: Professional Human Resources (PHR), Certified Self Funding Specialist (CSFS), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant, and Registered Health Underwriter (RHU). She also holds a California Life Insurance license and is a member in local and national health insurance, underwriting and human resource associations.
• Todd Bennett, Principal. Bennett joined Barney & Barney in 2006 in the Employee Benefits practice and has 14 years of healthcare industry experience, including nine years representing insurance companies. Todd’s primary focus is providing solutions to the needs of mid-market companies. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, Bennett worked for Genworth Financial. Todd currently sits on the Income Vision Council for the United Way of San Diego and the SME Connect Advisory Board. He received a Bachelor of General Studies degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas.
• Steven Fisk, Principal, CIC, ARM, CRIS. Fisk joined Barney & Barney’s Property & Casualty department in 2009 and has 10 years of experience designing and brokering risk-transfer programs. Fisk also co-leads the firm’s Apparel Practice Group in Orange County. Prior to Barney & Barney, Fisk worked at Liberty Mutual as both a Producer and Sales Manager of its California middle markets business segment. Fisk earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the University of Kansas. He holds three professional designations: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) and is actively pursuing his fourth as a Certified Risk Manager (CRM). Fisk is actively involved in several organizations, including City of Hope, OC Fashion Association and Cal Fashion.
• Brian Hegarty, Principal. Hegarty joined Barney & Barney in 2008 in the Employee Benefits practice and has 10 years of experience. At Barney & Barney, he specializes in employee benefits programs for mid-sized and large companies in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, Hegarty worked as a Sales Executive for CIGNA and Health Net. Hegarty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and communications from The University of Arizona. He completed his General Benefits Associate Designation in 2009. Hegarty currently serves on the board of the Building Blocks Foundation and the Orange County YMCA.
