NEWBURY, England--(Centrix Software today announced that a global financial services firm has selected Centrix WorkSpace™ to optimize its move to Windows 7 across 65,000 desktop users and provide on-going visibility of application usage across its entire organization of over 100,000 users.)--
“Progressive companies recognize that to reduce the cost and complexity of IT requires a deeper understanding of how technology is used and consumed. With this insight, organizations have a true picture of their technology operation and can drive greater business value from new IT investment decisions.”
Under the deal, the investment bank will use Centrix WorkSpace iQ™ to automate the analysis of its desktop computing estate as it designs and deploys services based on Windows 7 and other new application and desktop technologies. In addition, the bank will also use the intelligence gathered to rationalize its software assets, which includes up to 9,000 applications.
“This multi-million dollar investment in our products by a Tier 1 global bank reflects how organizations are changing their approach to deploying strategic technology services,” said Lisa Hammond, CEO of Centrix Software. “Progressive companies recognize that to reduce the cost and complexity of IT requires a deeper understanding of how technology is used and consumed. With this insight, organizations have a true picture of their technology operation and can drive greater business value from new IT investment decisions.”
Simon Bramfitt of Entelechy Associates stated “IT leadership needs to look at the transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 with the same intensity of focus that they gave the Y2K Problem. With time running out before Microsoft withdraws all support for Windows XP leaving millions of desktops vulnerable to malware attacks, it is essential that organizations can allocate their resources appropriately. Unfortunately, even today many organizations are ill-prepared for this challenge. Being able to automate and accelerate the identification of all applications and desktops requiring attention is the critical first step in this process.”
