NSTA’s What Can an Animal Do? Explores Animal Characteristics and Behavior

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Every child is curious about animals and NSTA’s new title, What Can an Animal Do? encourages K–3 learners to notice the characteristics and behavior of interesting creatures—from gnawing, swimming beavers to spinning, climbing spiders to hopping, baby-toting kangaroos.

Using inquiry as its structure, readers, like scientists, learn the basic processes of science by observing, comparing, and describing. The text guides the child’s observations and thoughts to particular aspects of behavior and ends with an open-ended question that asks the child to compare the behaviors of animals to his or her own behaviors.
