MMFX Technologies Appoints New CEO

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MMFX Technologies Corporation (www.mmfx.com) appoints Thomas Russo as their new chief executive officer (CEO). With over 35 years of experience in the steel industry, Russo will focus on expanding the industrial applications for MMFX’s unique steel nanotechnology and growing the market position of its uncoated corrosion-resistant and high-strength reinforcing steel products.

MMFX is growing the sales of its MMFX₂ reinforcing steel products globally, with inventory available throughout North America, the Middle East and recent introduction in South America. MMFX₂ has been independently proven to provide five times more corrosion-resistance and twice the strength of conventional reinforcing steel, resulting in more than 100 years of service life for reinforced concrete structures and lower construction costs. The company’s material science technology has further applications in additional product lines, in which high-strength and corrosion-resistance are desired.

Since 2010 Russo has served as the president and CEO of Trusscon Inc., a consulting company focused on the steel manufacturing and processing industries. There he has led efforts to assist major global companies with improvements in a variety of areas, including sales strategy, product development and evaluation of industry opportunities.

Russo began his career in 1977 at Bethlehem Steel’s Sparrows Point rod and wire mill as a management trainee. During his time there Russo held various roles in engineering, operations and senior management across several different facility owners. When the Sparrows Point facility was purchased by OAO Severstal in 2008, Russo was then appointed as the president & general manager, a position he held until he retired in 2010.

Russo is also serving as the current president of the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) Foundation, where he has served on the board of trustees since 2006. The AIST Foundation has the goal of attracting young technology professionals to modern steelmaking through the promotion of the high-tech and diverse nature of the industry.
