Addition of two new partners further demonstrates success in connecting geographically dispersed healthcare community

ClinicalConnect HIE—comprised of 11 western Pennsylvania health systems and providers —was established 18 months ago with the objective of enabling participating organizations to exchange and use patient information in a meaningful way. The dbMotion semantic interoperability platform organizes and harmonizes data captured by disparate health information technologies across the HIE. Providers are able to access the data within their existing workflows in their preferred format, rather than exiting one application and logging into another.

ClinicalConnect HIE’s success reflects patients’ growing acceptance regarding the need for their various healthcare providers to share clinical information. This is evidenced not only by the volume of patients participating, but by ClinicalConnect HIE’s low opt-out rate of 1.51 percent–significantly lower than comparable projects nationwide.
