DAVOS, Switzerland--()--Montreal-based clean energy investment firm Inerjys announced today that it has been invited to participate in the 2013 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Stephan Ouaknine, Founder and Managing Partner of Inerjys, will discuss how innovations in clean energy finance can help strengthen our infrastructure and economy, while tackling global issues such as climate change and resource scarcity.
“We need the financial community to begin to address the challenge and opportunity of climate change and clean energy. I think that the Inerjys approach of helping entrepreneurs commercialize innovations embodies this theme.”
Dr. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, announced the annual meeting of the WEF community under the theme of Resilient Dynamism. The pillars of this theme are initiatives such as Unleashing Entrepreneurial Innovation, Reinforcing Critical Systems and Sustaining Natural Resources.
This year’s event will include participation by nearly 50 heads of state and over 1,500 business leaders. Special sessions will focus on climate change and clean energy, and their critical consequences for the economies and infrastructure of developed and emerging markets.
In Davos, Ouaknine will be discussing financial-sector solutions in clean energy and infrastructure that improve critical global systems in an economically sustainable way.
Noting that the mission of the World Economic Forum is “Improving the State of the World,” Ouaknine stated: “We need the financial community to begin to address the challenge and opportunity of climate change and clean energy. I think that the Inerjys approach of helping entrepreneurs commercialize innovations embodies this theme.”
At the World Economic Forum last year, Prime Minister Stephen Harper challenged Canadian private sector leaders to stimulate the innovation economy.
“I’m proud to be among other Québécois and Canadians at Davos one year later rising to Prime Minister Harper’s challenge," says Ouaknine. "We need new investment models that successfully commercialize the best innovations, especially in the clean energy sector. I believe our public-private partnership model for clean energy finance can be the benchmark for others on the world stage.”
