TXU Energy Gives Back More Than $36 Million to Texas Electricity Customers

Company distributes rewards to business customers for the first time

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--What 6-year-old gives away more than $36 million? That’s exactly what TXU Energy’s 6-year-old cash back loyalty reward program is doing as it provides cash back to hundreds of thousands of electricity customers across Texas this year. And it’s the first year these rewards are going to both business and residential customers. In the next few weeks, the company is rewarding customers on these plans with a percentage of what they paid for electricity in 2012, and some will be earning even more cash back for their electricity purchases in 2013.

This year TXU Energy will distribute more than $36 million to residential and business customers who are on TXU Energy electricity plans eligible for cash back. Some of these plans include TXU Energy Texas Choice, TXU Energy Cash Rewards and TXU Energy Renter’s Rewards. Customers who were on these plans in 2012 will receive as much as 3 percent or more cash back in the form of a Visa^® prepaid card. They can spend the rewards however they choose—including shopping, paying their electricity bills or donating to charity.

Earning More Cash Rewards over Time

Launched in early 2012, TXU Energy Cash Rewards 24^SM is a two-year plan that awards residential electricity customers 3 percent cash back the first year of the plan and 4 percent cash back the second year. TXU Energy Cash Rewards 36^SM is a three-year plan that awards 3 and 4 percent the first and second years and 5 percent the third year. Cash Rewards for Business Customers

TXU Energy also introduced two new plans for small and medium-sized businesses last year. These plans provide the same escalating cash back as the company’s cash back loyalty rewards plans for residential customers. When TXU Energy launched cash back loyalty rewards in 2007, it became the first electricity provider to provide such a program based on customers’ annual electricity purchases.
