DAVIS, Calif.--()--U.S.-based commercial and utility solar electric engineering and installation firm Blue Oak Energy (BOE) is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month. The private corporation has seen record growth in revenue and staff with offices in Davis, California and Washington, D.C.
“Our singular focus is to make the customer successful”
Over the last decade, BOE has engineered more than 300 MWs of rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted PV systems, across 30 states. In 2008, the company expanded to provide complete Engineering, Procurement and Construction services. In the last four years alone, BOE has installed over 10 MWs of projects for both commercial and utility customers.
“The key to our longevity in this evolving industry will always be the strength and passion of our team,” explained Founder Tobin Booth. “We have always tried to promote from within; most of our officers and managers started with me as engineers. I know they understand the business and will maintain our collaborative culture and commitment to sustainability.”
The company boasts a long history with clients such as Google, Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), Southern California Edison, ProLogis, SunEdison, Chevron, and many other prominent companies. BOE’s work also includes a growing public portfolio including projects for the U.S. Navy, Veterans Administration, and other federal and state agencies.
“Our singular focus is to make the customer successful,” states Danny Lee, VP of Sales and Marketing. “This motivates our team to drive through difficult deadlines, engineering challenges, and all the uncertainties of construction to get the job done. I believe this focus has made BOE a trusted brand in the solar industry. Ten years in this tumultuous industry is a testament to that trust.”
The company was started by Tobin Booth with seed money and a dream to build a company to serve the burgeoning solar industry. The company, originally named Booth Engineering, offered services for system commissioning, data system installation, and engineering. Blue Oak Energy was incorporated in 2005 and eventually found its roots in photovoltaic system engineering and construction documents. In 2007 the firm secured an opportunity to build eight rooftop solar electric systems for REI across California. In 2010 the company sold a sister products-based company, Blue Oak PV Products, to better focus on engineering and construction. Recently, the company has added in-house civil engineering, structural engineering, medium voltage design, and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) engineering to its capabilities. With more than 500MW of completed solar projects projected for completion by the end of 2013, the future is green.
