Foley & Mansfield Service Team Heads Back to Guatemala

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Foley & Mansfield, a national law firm, is proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, the Firm is sponsoring a week-long service trip to Durazno, Guatemala to assist local families with infrastructure development projects. Nine individuals - including firm attorneys, staff and family members - are heading to this remote farming village for a week-long service trip from January 26 through February 3.

A small mountain community comprised of approximately 75 families, Durazno is located in the mountains about three hours from Guatemala City. Sponsored by the Foley & Mansfield Foundation, the service team is partnering with Bridge Builders, BPD (Bienestar, Progreso, Desarollo), a local NGO, and with local families in order to improve economic and sanitary conditions in the community. The Foley & Mansfield team will work side-by-side with residents on projects that may range from building latrines to installing smokeless stoves.

The expedition will be led by Virginia Easley Johnson, managing partner of the Firm’s Miami office, who has organized and led more than 20 service trips to locations around the world. “We are all incredibly proud to be representing the Firm as we help much less fortunate families in need,” she said. “Last year we were able to build ten new smokeless stoves, and we supplied the community with materials to complete another thirty. We are very excited about what we will accomplish working with the families of Durazno this year.”
