DENVER & ATLANTA--()--Westwood College Online student Sughey Abreu De Hernandez has been named the grand prize winner in the 2013 APSCU Convention & Exposition logo contest. The logo will be used throughout the association’s upcoming convention in June, including promotions, printed pieces, onsite signage, the Convention website and social media outlets. In addition, De Hernandez won a $500 cash prize for designing the winning logo.
“Sughey is a talented designer, and this recognition by APSCU is very well-deserved”
The contest called for students from APSCU member colleges to submit logo designs for the convention, taking into consideration the event theme, “Opportunity for All.”
De Hernandez is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications at Westwood College Online. Building on 12 years of experience in graphic design, De Hernandez is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in order to help bring her career to a higher level. Originally from the Dominican Republic, she currently lives in Atlanta working as a freelance graphic designer. De Hernandez chose Westwood College Online because of the flexibility to keep up with her studies while working and traveling.
“Sughey is a talented designer, and this recognition by APSCU is very well-deserved,” said Lou Pagano, chief operating officer of Westwood College Online. “We are proud of her accomplishment and can’t wait to see what else she is capable of during her time with Westwood College Online and beyond.”
De Hernandez designed the logo while traveling to the Dominican Republic. Watching a family member reading a book, she came up with the idea for the logo based on the connection between books, revelations and success.
