“We look forward to contributing our perspective to the Brookings community and the 21st Century Defense Initiative as this working group considers this critical juncture in our nation’s national security,” LMI President and CEO Nelson M. Ford said.
“LMI attracts some of the most experienced and thoughtful individuals to develop solutions for the federal sector, and we welcome their participation in this important project,” said Michael E. O’Hanlon, Director of Research for the 21st Century Defense Initiative.
LMI’s participation will begin at Brookings’ “Warriors Against Waste: Cutting Defense Spending through Reform?” event on January 24, 2013, where participants will discuss the future of the U.S. defense budget, with a particular focus on reforms and efficiencies. The panel will include LMI Executive Vice President Dr. William B. Moore and LMI Program Manager Dr. Nick Avdellas.
The goal of the Brookings Institute’s working group is to establish a community of interested scholars and practitioners who can exchange views and learn from each other in an attempt to push forward discussion on this important but complex issue. Over the last two years, they have regularly met to identify and study the key policy questions surrounding the future of the national security industrial base.
